By the title of this post you can probably tell it’s hot here. Today was supposed to break the all time record for July in London. I haven’t heard if it did. They must not get many hot days here because they claim the all time record is 38 degrees. Felt like about 93 out there to me. I read that in some tube trains the temperature within the cars was up to 100 degrees. I believe that because we were in one of those cars.

This morning the Robinson family arrived.
After they had showers and a short rest we headed out to see The Tower of London, and more importantly to Braden, some kind of Jeff Goldblum statue.
The kids had fun in the tower, although neither would go to see the Bloody Tower. The only disappointing thing about the Towers was that it was too hot for the Yeoman Warders to give any tours. That was the highlight of my last trip there because you learn so much and get to listen to their wiseass cracks to your fellow tourists. “Any Americans here? Ok, I’ll use small words” Arnie got a smackdown for being a Yorkshireman, but he gets that everywhere he goes.

After viewing the crown jewels and trying to scare the ravens out of the tower, some of us walked across the Tower Bridge, while others of us were carried. We got to the place of the mysterious Jeff Goldblum statue which was supposed to stay up until today, but it appears that they jumped the gun on removing it and Braden missed his chance to see it. Nobody else cared even the slightest bit.
At this point the overnight flight jet lag started kicking in and we walked to the London Bridge station for our sardine can trip home. Everyone was so tired that we stopped at Marks and Spencer and picked up 6 microwaveable dinners for one and now, at 10:15, all but me are asleep in bed. We did try to stop at one restaurant we saw just before the station but Braden pointed out that the “We are closed” sign would probably insure very slow service.
The bedroom Nancy and I are sleeping in is hot. I can’t imagine how the Robinsons are sleeping in their room two floors about us.
High Tea tomorrow and visits to some museums and Kings Cross to see if Harry Potter is there
