Richmond

Hi, this is Nancy again.  We took the train to the London neighborhood of Richmond today.  It was supposed to be in the upper 80’s and we almost didn’t go because the heat here has been really brutal, with no air conditioning. But it turned out to be a nice breezy day, warm but very nice.

What a lovely area this is.  We walked down some busy streets with interesting stores.  We meandered along until we came to a path along the Thames and watched lots of canoes and rowboats for awhile.  It was tree lined and a lovely place to just sit and watch.  We ate lunch at a small cafe that actually had bottles of Lipton iced tea.  Iced tea is unheard of over here and I’ve missed it greatly. Hard to believe in a place that so cherishes tea.

Then we happened upon a cricket game about to start.  It was cool and breezy so we sat on a bench to watch.  I had no idea what it was about but Chuck knew the rules and enjoyed watching. Right behind us was a lovely little square that is what I think of when I think of London.
