The most impressive thing we saw today was St. Pancras International Train Station. When we first saw it, Nancy thought it was a church. The front of the station is so huge I couldn’t even get a good picture of the whole thing.

We were there to meet with my fourth cousin once removed Frances Goldsmith and her friend Nigel. They came up all the way from Eastbourne to have lunch with us. Frances’s parents Sheila and Ken had planned to be there as well but had some transportation problems getting from Little Walsingham and also were wary of traveling in this heat. Yes we are in another heat wave with temperatures as high as 1700 micro mililiters or something.

We had lunch in a pub right in Kings Cross station (a large station 100 yards from St Pancras station) and then took a walk down Euston Road. We came back to St. Pancras for coffee and walked through the shopping area which is bigger than most malls.
After Frances and Nigel left, we decided to take the bus home rather than the tube. I’ve mentioned how easy it is to get around London on public transportation. Here’s an example. While walking on Euston Road, I noticed a #30 bus which terminated at Marble Arch and a #91 which terminated at Trafalger Square. I realized that we could take the 30 to Marble Arch and transfer to the 36 to get home, or take the 91 and transfer to the 6 at Trafalger Square. That’s how easy it is. You can be in a part of the city you’ve not been in before and realize that you can take a bus route you’ve not heard of before.
We took 36 and along the way passed Baker Street where, if we wanted to, we could have gotten off and rode the Bakerloo tube line the rest of the way home. The tube would have been faster, but I prefer the bus because you can see the city.
Nancy claims that the system is too convoluted for her, but the other night we got on a train and she said “Willesden Junction next right?” Right! When we changed trains there she said “Two stops right?” Right again!
Time to stop typing. My favorite show is on now – “8 out of 10 cats does countdown”. Check it out on you tube.

1700 micro milliliters is a really hot day.
