David, Rachael and the kids went for tea today at the Langham. Since we had been there with the Robinsons, we stayed home and did laundry and shopping.

Laundry is quite an event here. Our little washing machine can hold about a third of a load of laundry and literally takes 159 minutes to get it done. We don’t even try drying any more since two towels and two washcloths once took more than 4 hours to almost dry. We did find out when we had dinner with Nancy’s friend a couple of weeks ago that our machine is not broken. That’s how they work.

When the tea takers got home, David and I took the kids over to the Queens Park playground. They loved it, especially the zip line.
This is a picture of our open living room window. Notice there is no screen. Screens are not used here. We were worried that we’d be overrun with flys on hot days when all the windows were open. However, excluding today for some reason, we’ve had very few problems with bugs coming into the house. We even sleep with windows open.

We just put the kids to bed – David and Rachael are out being foodies tonight, when we got to witness a loud argument in the street. Someone came home and found her parking spot taken. Her solution was to lean on her horn for 5 minutes. A man finally came out of his house and told her she was being rude which set her off into a screaming tirade. Two people eventually walked onto the block and moved their cars which satisfied her enough that she decided to let the rest of the neighborhood be at peace. I felt like part of the neighborhood during this as I was one of many on the block with my head out the window watching.
