We made it to Ivanhoe’s Beacon which is the end of the Ridgeway. It’s a high spot with more big views. Today’s hike was about 8 easy miles in very pleasant woodlands and 9 miles of difficult ups and downs.
We started out from Wendover at around 830. It’s a pretty town and I took 3 times as many pictures in the first 10 minutes of today’s walk than I took in the first 6 hours yesterday.

We had a lot of woods walking today which I don’t normally like, but it was cool and breezy in the woods and there were frequent overlooks.

We also had some pasture full of cows walking. It took us awhile to get through because we had to wait for them to move. Two calves in particular didn’t want to move and eventually started walking over to investigate us. We were backing up because mama was near and glaring at us. They finally turned away.

This entire trail was very well marked until the last two miles when all markings disappeared, multiple trails popped up and we got lost looking for the end of the trail. We wandered around for at least 30 minutes before finding a group heading there.

The worst part was that now that we had finished, we had to backtrack and do 4 more miles to the Inn. We are in Aldbury 1.1 miles form Tring Station where we planned to take the train back to London tomorrow. Due to trackwork, no trains are running. We passed Tring Station on the walk and stopped in to ask questions but it was unstaffed. We had lunch on a platform and I saw a man in railway uniform go by. I chased him to the carpark and asked if he worked there. He said he did, for another 30 seconds, but at 2 pm would be retired. He was able to tells us, Parially as an employee and partially as a retiree that there will be a bus service running from there to get us to Stanmore which is the beginning of the Jubilee tube line.
I’ve been forgetting to include the following picture. The other day, when we were in the church, I saw a mirror. I remembered that many grade Z fakelebrities use a mirror for their selfies. Since Nancy still wants a selfie of me, I took one.
